Sun's Glow and Shine Method for the face and hair

Our skin is the largest organ we have and it plays an important immunity role in protecting the body against pathogens and excessive water loss. It also provides insulation, temperature regulation, sensation, synthesis of vitamin D, and the protection of vitamin B folates.  When our skin is severely damaged, it will try to heal by forming a scar, this can often be discoloured and depigmented.

Pigmentation varies among populations, and skin type can range from dry to normal, oily to sensitive and combination (T-zone).  Our scalp skin must be kept healthy and the sebum (oil) gives the hair moisture and shine as it naturally travels down the hair shaft, and serves as a protective substance. As we age, so does our hair and as we go hormonal changes, our hair and scalp requires more help.

It’s time to look after our skin and hair even more so and this is where
Sun's Glow and Shine Method comes into play!  The treatment for the skin, both, for face and hair is non-invasive, meaning that no surgery or piercing of the skin takes place.

As an Aromatherapist and Beauty Specialist, I will be choosing and blending the ideal amount of beautiful essential oils, such as Rosehip, Geranium, Frankincense, Ylang Ylang, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Patchouli with a carrier oil, such as Coconut for dry skin or Jojoba for the other skin types.  The oils benefit the skin by helping to minimise fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, redness, age spots/hyperpigmentation, release free radicals, reduce inflammation, even out skin tone, boost collagen, help to brighten your complexion, promote skin cell turnover, and protect your skin from environmental damage.

Your hair and scalp will be looked after with the use of Castor and Jojoba oil, blended with Rosemary  and other essential oils which will promote hair growth, restore the shine and aid thinning hair.

I will be using Indian head massage techniques on your scalp and hair and you will be laying down for this, where usually, you would be seated, this will encourage the flow with your facial massage and you will receive exactly the same benefits to the scalp and head which include encouraging blood flow to the scalp whilst relaxing the scalp and neck muscles, reducing tension, stress and anxiety which contributes to hair loss, relieves symptoms of depression, improves the nutrients absorption from the blood stream to the hair follicle which enhances the growth of your hair and relieves headaches.

The Indian head massage techniques also boost memory capabilities, stimulates lymphatic drainage, improves sleep, soothes sinuses and improves circulation of cerebral spinal fluid.

Preparation is key!

Please come in with as little make-up as possible, so your skin is almost good to go! Your skin will be lightly cleansed to rid of any environmental particles. If your skin needs a deep cleanse, please bear in mind that this will cut into your treatment time. You will be asked in the health questionnaire what your skin type is. If you have no idea, please download the ‘Let your beauty sing’ Basic beauty guide here. Also, you will be asked questions about your hair issues.

Contraindications - why the treatment cannot go ahead.

Should you have any open sores, lip cold sores, eye infections, hair lice, or are being looked after by a dermatologist or trichologist for severe skin or hair issues, please seek their guidance.

Will I be doing a cleanse, tone and moisturise routine?

Not quite, the session will include a light cleanse, then the skin will be activated with the facial massage oil using gentle strokes at first on the face, then medium pressure where needed around the back, neck and head.

Will you need to take your clothes off?

Only your top. A towel will be placed across the top half of your body and a blanket on the clothed lower half. I will need access to your decolletage area, your neckline, back, face and head/hair. I will use hairclips to hold your hair back whilst performing your facial massage and these will then be taken out when I move to your head/hair. Your hair will be graced with a damp towel to take off any excess oil after your session.

Will I be using massage tools?

Yes, apart from my hands and fingers, I will be using my jade roller, and Gua sha sculpt and massage tools for the face. I will be using my hands to apply the ‘Indian head massage’ techniques to your head and hair.

How long is the treatment? And how much is the investment?

The treatment lasts for 45 minutes, and the investment is £47.

How often should I book in for the ‘Sun’s Glow and Shine method’? And how long does the ‘glow’ and ‘shine’ last?

Just once a month, and if you wish to have this added to your ‘Back, neck and shoulder’ quarterly session, get in touch. Otherwise, this treatment will also be available as an ‘add on’ when booking online, or as a ‘standalone’ treatment.

A mini version is also available as an 'add on' to various treatments/sessions via the online booking system. Should you wish to have Sun's Mini Glow and Shine method for the face and hair, this can form part of an 'add on' to your quarterly BNS or Rapid sessions, please get in touch via catz@crimsoncatz.com if you're interested.  The session investment is £25/20 minutes.

The ‘glow’ lasts for 72hrs, however, if you have a skincare routine, it can help to sustain it for longer. The hair ‘shine’ can last until it’s washed, however, you may also find that your hair is soft and silky when you start to wash it and maybe even more manageable afterwards.

General advice: washing your hair everyday isn't advisable as it strips the hair shaft of its natural oil. Twice a week is good, and if you are doing a job which means that you need to wash your hair every day, then keep to a mild shampoo.

Aftercare advice

- No make-up to be worn for 6-8 hours after the treatment
- Avoid any other facial treatments for 48 hours
- Care for your skin, ensure you also have a skincare routine, where you’re cleansing, toning and moisturising and using SPF 50 which combats the harsh UV rays.
- Don’t use perfumed products on your face for a couple of days.
- Drink plenty of water to keep you and your skin hydrated.
- Accept all the wonderful compliments and let them know who to go and see as part of our referral service.
