Colour has played a massive part in my life, and no doubt in yours too.  We all go through sad and happy events, but don't realise how colour affects our 'moment'.  As kids, if our parents gave us something in colour, we would've had already identified whether we like it or not.  Tantrums ahoy! "No, mum, I want the orange one, not the green one".  We would quite easily associate colour with taste, now you know how you don't like the green fruit pastilles but opt for the blackcurrant ones, right?  It would be the minority who would take the green one off your hands for the sake of having a sweet.
cooler, more blue used
warmer, more yellow used

I studied colour theory back in the day when I studied art and design, fashion & textiles then colour consultancy, and finally colour therapy.  This blog is a mix of theory, therapy and meaning as you will see.  When I mention 'cooler' or 'warmer', I know some of you get it and others look baffled, but it's ok...the images to the left explain it.

We've all heard the saying, "He's got the blues or she's red hot".   This is where the hidden meaning of the colours come into place.  So let's start with how colour can help you and then move onto the meaning of each colour.

Presentations:  Effective speaking can be helped along by wearing something turquoise near your throat area.  Why?  Because the throat chakra is governed by this colour and can clear any blockages.

Depression:
It
is said that the colour 'orange' can help lift the way you're feeling. So carry a colour swatch of orange in your pocket and look at it when you need to. I'm not saying that this will conquer all your problems, but it sure will help lift your spirits.

To mend a broken heart: Wear pale violet, pink or even green.  The green is the traditional colour which governs the 'heart' chakra, but the pale violet and pink actually is the 'mirror' image/transitional colour of that area.

To gain attention of the opposite sex: Wear 'red', this colour is associated with the 'root' also known as 'base' chakra which governs our animal instincts, It’s also associated with the adrenal, kidneys, muscles, and arterial blood. This chakra links you with the physical world and is our base for our life energy. This is the one that gives us the motivation to eat, sleep and even to procreate.

Now, let's move onto the meaning of colour.

RED: Indicates a go getter who doesn't mind taking a risk or two.  Someone who may find it difficult to curb their anger from time to time, but is also a passionate person. Targets/goals don't phase them, but by adding a little blue, they can learn not to burn so much energy but instead to relax and unwind. Linked to Mars, the God of war.

BLUE: A very calm and almost sedate person who loves their freedom.  They don't want to work too hard, but instead go to work, returns home and relaxes doing what makes them happy.  Sometimes you may feel a little sluggish, but a little red will help boost your energy.  Blue/Turquoise which is linked to the throat chakra will help anyone to untangle their words. Linked to planet earth.

PURPLE: A majestic colour and also one belonging to the 'High Priestess'.  The person who loves purple would like their heart to be healed and is very spiritual indeed.  They demand the best and will only receive the best....but don't mistake this with snobbery, they only want what's fit for royalty.

GREEN: Someone who loves nature, harmony, balance, finding justice and would prefer to be outdoors most of the time. Is good at helping others and also listening to conversations rather than saying too much at all. Linked to planet/goddess Venus

PINK: Pink is the colour of love, Venus, the heart and all things lovely.  The 'pink' person wants to be loved, would want to be surrounded with lots of beautiful things and with a touch of green, this would really take romanticism to another level.

YELLOW:  Sunny personalities, generally happy, harmonious people choose yellow, however it can also signify a coward and deceit on the downside.  On the bright side, the more warmer the yellow, the more golden it becomes.

BROWN:  Hmmm, this is a funny one. I don't actually remember anyone getting excited over this colour.  It's usually associated with 'boring'.  Sorry if I've upset anyone, however I tend to tell it like it is...oops, the RED is coming out.  However, brown and green are usually associated with the colour of money.  I'm not saying that people who love this colour are loaded, or attracting money, however the next time someone mentions the colour brown, the drinks are on him...or her.  I'm keeping my mouth firmly shut, ;).

ORANGE: As mentioned earlier, if you love the colour orange, this is based between the red and yellow, thus red and yellow when mixed makes orange.  So you're extremely level headed with a very cheery and independent nature.  Not too OTT unlike the red and not too undercooked via the yellow.  Love life and live it...

BLACK: Okay, this isn't a colour, however it's an interesting shade which people find themselves loving for many reasons.  Black indicates someone who is proud, who takes time to look things over and is more likely to take a back seat whilst everyone is rushing around them, then they will have their say at the last minute.  It's linked to the mysterious planet Pluto.

WHITE: Again this isn't a colour, but an absence of colour and thus a great reflector of heat.  The meaning behind white is that of purity and clinical, hence why most salon's have been told not to over use white as it doesn't help relax the client so much. Dentists will use white in abundance, but try to jazz it up by using colourful posters on the wall.  Check this next time you pay a visit.  White is also spiritual, and used to protect others against evil and negativity,  So if you find yourself attracted to this absence of colour, you may consider yourself a 'helper' among men.

GREY: If you find yourself liking grey, it's not a bad thing, ahem.  Well, it just means that you're a 'middle of the road' kinda person, one that doesn't like to attract attention and can be somewhat boring.  Okay, I'll stop there before I ruffle your feathers.  On the upside, you prefer a secure balanced existence, erm, yes... Let's hope your secondary colour helps you out of this one.

Secondary colours / shades are your second choice. I love red as my first colour and I love black...my secondary choice helps to balance, add or subtract the good and the bad from my primary choice of colour.

Please don't take this too seriously I'm sure we all have secondary colours which counterbalance our primary choice.

So the crazy days of cold have set in and sometimes it can make us feel 'low'.  Well, here are 10 top tips to cheer you right up again!

1)  Some of us may have the 'Winter blues' but we can succumb the pressures of feeling glum by switching our original light bulb for a 'day light' bulb.  This'll have your brain thinking that it's nice and bright outside whilst you're inside.  Most daylight bulbs can be found in specialist light shops for around £3.  You can even find S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) light treatments in Boots or other high street chemists.

2)  Itchy, dry skin on your face, body or hands can sometimes be caused by intense heat along with the bitter cold weather.  This can be helped by using an intensive moisturiser, however there are also other ways to combat it.  One is by having a holistic facial where skin is being renewed and plumped using a carrier oil and a blend of essential oils.  You can try a paraffin manicure to help soften your hands and finally you could even pop a piece of wet clothing, perhaps a towel on a hot radiator, this would act as a dehumidifier and leave the air moist instead of dry.

3) Water is great for cleaning out your system and removing toxins.  It helps to push the 'carb' build up out of your system and we know how the cold months make you crave the heavy stuff, so get drinking those pints of water!

4) When going all out for festive or celebratory dinner, remember how hard you have worked to shift the pounds during your personal training/work out sessions and Zumba fitness classes too.  Instead of piling the carbs on your plate, opt for more vegetables.  You'll feel so much better for it,  then have a little treat afterwards.

5) Games. Well, we all like to play them, so how about twister, or hide and seek?  These will get you laughing and giggling with your friends and your nearest and dearest.  Remember, they'll help you to sustain your fitness levels too.

6) Make a list of all of your achievements this year and your aims for next year.  You'll be surprised by how much you've accomplished and the ideas you come up with for next year.

7) When was the last time you spent a little bit of cash on YOU?  Whether it's £1 or more, buy something to thank yourself for being such a wonderful 'YOU'.

8) What you give out is what you receive. Some of us already know and have learnt loads about the 'Law of Attraction'.  So now it's your turn to tell the universe what you want and not what you need.  The more you worry about something, the more you will 'vibrate it' and therefore 'attract it'.  So let go of your woes and love everything you have, including YOU.

9) Whether or not you're off to a party,  indulge in a little pampering or even a make-over?  You never know, someone may spot you and crave your attention.  On the other hand, it'll leave you feeling glamorous and remember, you're so worth it!!

10) Laugh away! Watching a good ole comedy or comedian will tickle you pink and there's nothing better than that now is there?

Have fun and keep smiling, :D.

A request from a client at 1.34am yesterday triggered off this blog!
We ask ourselves, 'how can we look younger without the use of chemicals and cosmetic surgery?' There are quite a few ways to look after our skin, which are commonly overlooked but should play a key part in our daily routine.

So let's take a look at some of the ones which
WORK!

1) Holistic facial.
What is it?  Well, 'holistic' means 'whole' so we're looking at your whole face. I, as your 'holistic' therapist would first cleanse and tone your face, then apply an oil blend using a 'carrier' oil such as jojoba which is closest to the skin's natural sebum and add a carefully selected amount of essential oils.   With my hands, I would use movements on your face to encourage cell renewal, rejuvenation and circulation.
The oil will then absorb into the skin, magically 'plumping' and brightening it over the course of the treatment   You will feel gorgeous when everyone is complimenting you the next day and you will also see the difference too. Once every two weeks, or once a month is sufficient for this treatment. However, some of you may love it so much that you may want it more often.

2) Cleanse, mask, tone and moisturise.
Yes, plain and simple and very easy to do. I can understand that some of you are full time mums or dads and that in itself is a job and a half.  However a couple of minutes a day will make your skin look even more scrumptious and feel fantastic. A mask once a week, is a true joy and can help your skin look brighter and add nourishment and vital vitamins to give it a boost too. Remember, this is also good for all of you guys, and finding out what your skin type is will make all the difference.
The best time to start is in your early twenties, but it doesn't mean that you can't start now. It may just take a little longer for your skin to accept your new and fabulous routine before you gain great results.

3) Create a 'happy heart' by doing something crazy (within reason), share a wonderful joke and have a laugh with your friends. I've done it for most of my life and it does work, just remember not to screw your eyes up!

4) Your diet and exercise. You know the saying, 'you are what you eat' well need I say no more!  This will be covered in Anita's blog next week, so I won't give too much away.  Do drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.   Running can also reduce the collagen in your skin too, however, I'm not telling you to ban the activity if this is what you enjoy.

Could this be a 'skin and paraben' marriage made in heaven or hell?   'For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer'  as the case may be, hmmm,  let's move on...

Parabens are cheap 'preservatives' which are added to many cosmetic & skincare products to give it long shelf life and kill off bacteria.  There are different types and are often found listed right at the end of the 'ingredients' panel of your cosmetic & skincare based product.  Methyl and propyl parabens are also used as additives in some foods.  (We're not liking the sound of that either).

The image to the right shows the Paraben family, become familiar with the names so you know what you're looking out for.

What harm, if any, can parabens do?

Parabens interfere with the body's natural production of hormones and are known as endocrine disruptors. They also act like the hormone 'oestrogen' (that's 'estrogen' to our American friends) and it has been said that parabens cause, contribute or increase the risk of cancer, yet this is still in debate in the world of science.   Past research showed that the chemicals were safe, taking into account that the chemicals would be absorbed quickly, metabolised and excreted as waste.

Since then, science has shown that over time chemicals build up in the body tissue and increase toxic build up and the chance that they can interfere with normal hormonal functions increases.  We need to look after our skin sensibly, it is the largest organ after all and thankfully there are companies who create products which are paraben FREE!

Brands such as Temple Spa prefer to use natural oils, such as grape seed, vitamins or extracts which protect the skin's health, preserves the quality of the product, finds and depletes toxins and also provides moisture.  Naturally, the products will cost a little more, but they are also 'concentrated' so a little goes a long way.  Whereas with the paraben based products, they are 'cheap as chips' and you will need more product to cover the skin's surface.  Therefore toxic build up is inevitable over time.

is the way to be!

Another special day is slowly creeping upon us, yes, it's Father's day and what best way to celebrate it but to spoil 'em rotten!

Most of the time, guys have the idea of their most wanted gift in their head, but never mention it until they get hit with another pair of socks, just like last year, and the year before that.  Their little sulky face tells another story when they say 'they're not bothered about it'.

We know that deep down inside they wanted something to play with, like a keyring that makes a million silly noises, or a very expensive dream car which they can zoom on the chicane with.
When they're taking a little while longer in the bathroom, it's because they're actually checking out your 'lotions and potions'.

Distant unsure words of 'I'll be there in a minute' echo while he checks out your new 'eye cream' or tries to find something useful to help his morning shave.
Times
have turned around somewhat, as we ladies no longer use 'his' razor but instead 'him indoors' wants to try to find something that will aid his appearance in many ways.

So there is help on the horizon, and even if you...the wife, girlfriend or whatever you happen to be, don't get him it, then he will always treat himself, but hide it away in an obvious place! (Sadly for you guys, women know where everything is kept - it's built in I'm afraid).

Let the head man become 'Head boy for a change, he'll feel like all his Christmas's have come at once!   There's nothing to say that you can't use a little something of his, once in a while...let yourself go 'wild',  we know you want to!

If you really have no ideas, have a chat with us via our email catz@crimsoncatz.com, on twitter @CrimsonCatz or even on our facebook fan page and hey, why not join us?  It would be lovely to meet you!

Oh, and one final thing, enjoy  Father's Day! (June 19th, 2011).

W
hen we're on our travels or even in our home salon, we always get asked questions especially about the skin we're in, so we're going  to concentrate on one of them in today's blog.

Some of you may notice that some areas of your skin have darker patches.  This can be located anywhere on the body, but most commonly found on the face, arms and hands.

This is called 'hyperpigmentation', it's harmless and means that there is more melanin content in the noticeably darker area.  There are many causes for this to occur, including Melasma, this is the more common name for it when the large darkened patches occur during hormonal changes, such as pregnancy and taking the 'pill'.  Freckles and age spots darken when in the sun, because the melanin absorbs the suns harmful UV rays in order to protect the skin from harmful exposure.  Therefore, wearing  sunscreen is a must to save the damage the sun can do.

Other causers of dark spots can be 'acne' and skin diseases, where the darker spots are found after the condition clears.

We also get asked "How can we get rid of freckles?" and our answer is "You can't, as they are hereditary, but instead you can use sunscreen to reduce their appearance".
Sometimes the answer simply isn't enough to bring a smile to the face.

However, there are other some interesting answers, such as: some people confide in laser treatments or prescribed creams containing hydroquinone which, as the active ingredient slows the melanin production down.  There are harsher creams which contain twice the amount of hydroquinone and cause sensitivity.  There is also
Lumixyl peptide which I came across.  This is more advanced  and worth reading about.

Remember, you can also use camouflage make-up, in this case, please contact us to book a one to one consultation where we can go through the application/products which will help you without the use of laser, chemicals etc.

Should you be looking to use any creams or treatments for skin lightening or equivalent, do contact the company to book in for your consultation or seek advice from your doctor.  The information we have provided is to inform you of what hyperpigmentation is and what is available to you.  The choices you make are your own.

If there are any other areas you would like us to look into or if you have any questions, then please feel free to contact us via our facebook page, or via our website

Let us know your thoughts, we would love to hear from YOU!

Kindest regards

ANITA’S TIPS ON GETTING FIT

It has always been said that your health would benefit from at least 30 minutes worth of daily exercise. Why not try the following to keep you active through the coming months?

* Work out your Christmas shopping budget, this will help reduce stress as you will know clearly how much you can spend.

* Go shopping - all that brisk walking will get your heart rate elevated.

* Everyone likes to have a tipple or two at Christmas, just ensure you don’t drink alcohol on an empty stomach. Eat some complex carbs; such as a salad sandwich, at least this will line the stomach and soak up the alcohol. Drink plenty of water in between to avoid getting completely dehydrated. Instead of an English fry up opt for some porridge, a small amount will make you feel full and keep you snug for a few hours.

* That Christmas party is calling, don’t sit down all night, get up on that dance floor and party!

* Getting the housework done at home will definitely get your heart rate elevated.

It’s very easy to have that moment of weakness due to it being the festive season, but is it really worth throwing all that time spent making yourself look good during the summer months than to let it go in the winter?

* Check yourself out in the mirror everyday and ask yourself why you worked so hard to achieve the body composition you have. Picture yourself bigger than normal. That would definitely make you think twice about eating unhealthily!

*Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. You can add some cordial but preferably ones with no added sugar, or watered down fruit juice if preferred. Tea is actually worse for the skin than coffee and robs the skin of vital minerals as it is a diuretic.

Unfortunately many people lack motivation when it comes to exercising and getting fit, get a group together to motivate one another and gain good health

*If you’re struggling to put in time for exercise; park your car a good walking distance from your workplace and using the stairs rather than the lift, this will help with gaining some form of daily exercise.

*If you love cycling - then why not cycle to work if feasible, or around the area or to the local store rather than taking the car?

Carrying these out these exercises on a regular basis will improve your stamina, endurance and good body composition. Of course this would also keep your heart healthy as long as you are also maintaining good food management.

Follow these tips and you’ll be ready for the festive season.

Crimson Catz® are always looking for something innovative and refreshing, especially after listening to you, our clients and what causes to hinder you on a daily basis.

For us, the product has to work, and we go behind the scenes, delving into the scientific aspect of the product, the reviews, whether it is effective, convenient, cost effective and so forth! We always ensure that most of the products we source are unisex, can be used by pregnant women, and that it is infused with natural ingredients rather than chemicals.

After much time researching and testing we believe that we have finally found what you will absolutely love to use time after time. We all know that a simple cucumber out of the fridge can be popped onto your eyes for a period of time, but the science behind this showed that the humble cucumber caused an allergic reaction to some people.

Instead, the makers use Aloe Ferox from South Africa to give it's calm, soothing and restorative properties.

We welcome you to the multi award winning

  • Do not share with anyone, well why would you want to it's yours?

  • If you have an eye infection at the time and wish to use it, you will have to dispose of the eye slice afterwards so not to spread infection, otherwise don't use it for the time being.

  • The product is natural and non toxic.

  • You don't need to put it in the fridge unless you want to, it's already chilled.

  • Do not put it in the freezer, it doesn't need it.

  • The eye slices® product has been tested and approved as a non-irritant, however should irritation occur as with anything, discontinue use.

MEAOW MEAOW!!

TOP 'N' TOE PROMOTION & ALSO INTRODUCING 2 NEW TREATMENTS AT THE SAME TIME!

Good Day fluffy Crimson Cittenz!
After much purring and pondering we have finally come up with a fabulous promo which will keep your playful paws and feline features in tip top condition while the seasons go into another transition! Ooo that rhymes!

Promo Start date: 1st April 2010 until the 29th April 2010.

A 30 minute Hot Stone facial massage and Temple Spa's 10 minute foot and lower leg massage using Temple Spa's "AAAHHH!"

Description for Hot stone facial massage:

Hot stone therapy sessions are performed in a quiet and peaceful environment that helps promote the feeling of calm and relaxation. The dark stones are heated in water. Therapy for the face begins with a light application of essential oil on the stones as we don't want to clog pores with too much oil on the face.

Four small stones are individually placed so that one is under your lips, one is on each of your cheeks, and another is on your forehead. The therapy will be for 30 minutes. The heated stones diffuse heat and help the aromatic essential oils penetrate deeper into your skin. It promotes the immediate release of tension in your facial muscles. The stones take the place of fingers in massaging your face. Falling asleep is a typical response to hot stone therapy.

Description for Temple Spa's 10 minute foot and lower leg massage using Temple Spa's "AAAHHH!":

Don't you just hate it when your feet swell up when they are hot and legs throb when they are tired? AAAHHH! contains a blend of essential oils to soothe away aches and pains, extracts of dandelion to help reduce swelling and Chinese menthol crystals to cool. This lightweight balm will chill, calm and refresh legs and feet that have been standing still for far too long. You can also treat yourself to this great product by placing your order through the Temple Spa page.

Total for both treats is £27.00, YOU only pay £20 making a saving of £7.00!! What a purrfect treat!

Contact us to book in for an appointment!

Dear Crimson Cittenz,

You may have heard on Gaz & Babs morning show on Heart FM on the 10th Feb 2010 with Sunita of Crimson Catz®; The subject was lotions & potions and as Babs loves them, Gaz decided that it's a waste of time and asked if anyone else agreed with him.

Hello Delightful Cittenz!
CC1 has been trying and testing out Temple's Spa's Nail Spa Bar and Ta-Dah! for the past couple of weeks. Check out the reviews below:
Product Recommendation: Nail Spa Bar RRP £35 (+ £3 P&P if order is under £50) Palm Balm RRP: £18.00
This fab collection of 3 nail polishes (red, baby pink and burgundy) and 2 in 1 top and bottom coat comes in a lovely gift box. You also receive a free Palm Balm which is a luxurious treatment for the hands.
The nail polishes are the first in the UK that help strengthen your nails and also lets them breathe at the same time. The product is ideal to use after you have removed your acrylic or gel nails as your nails may be thin and/or weak after the treatment.

Due to having acrylic and gel nails treatments myself, I have been waiting for a product like this for some time to help my nails. I have been wearing the 2 in 1 top and bottom coat for the past 2 weeks now and have not needed to re-apply it. My nails are looking healthy, are growing properly and are not thin like they were before.

I have received compliments on my nails too. I highly recommend this product and I feel I've made a good purchase. You can purchase it as a Christmas gift but I have not been told whether they will be stocking it after Christmas. The last date to order to receive it before Christmas is Monday 21st December 2009.

Product recommendation: Ta-Dah!-A Party dress for the skin (includes a lovely gift box)RRP £30 (+ £3 P&P if order is under £50)
Golden Delicious-liquid sunshine in a bottle! (a gel bronzer). RRP: £18

This super-smooth, luscious liquid silk will glide over the skin leaving it fresh, fragrant, gleaming and oh so gorgeous. This also works well with Golden Delicious.

I only had to use a small amount as Temple Spa products are concentrated and a small amount goes a long way! The lotion glided smoothly and it looked like I had diamonds on my skin when the light caught it. I also got everyone to try it at my Temple Spa classes and they absolutely loved it.

If you want to look more radiant in the dull winter days then try Golden Delicious bronzing gel. This is a great product and goes hand in hand with Ta-dah!
I thoroughly recommend these products and I have had my Ta-dah! for 2 months now and still have loads left. You can wear it any time, anywhere, it is entirely up to you.

If you would like to treat yourself to any of these products and/ or any other products from the Temple Spa range or would like your other half / friend / family to treat you, then please see the steps below:

Step 1: Have a look at our website www.templespa.com/anitacormier or www.templespa.com/sunitajohal and choose some gorgeous products from our results proven skincare ...range or perhaps something really special from the exclusive Christmas Collection.

Step 2: Make a note of your Wish List and then give him or her either website address with your Wish List.

Step 3: Make sure he or she knows that orders placed before midnight on Monday 21st December will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Step 4:Then just wait and see what Santa will bring you

Or if you want to treat yourself instead then either check out our websites and place an order or email templespa@crimsoncatz.com we will then contact you, confirm your order and ask for payment details.

Your information will be kept on our database, these will not be passed on to anyone else. Any payment details we receive on paper will be treated with confidence and shredded after use.

Please also see the T's & C's on our website: crimsoncatz.com

Finally and on behalf of CC2 (Sunita), thank you so much for your support during the year and we will be looking forwards to seeing you again in 2010.

Love and Best Wishes and have a great Christmas and New Year!

Beautiful Crimson Cittenz...I wanna ask you one question...have you ever found it difficult to find a 'True Red' lipstick for yourself or a friend?

I have always had to mix 'reds' up from different palettes, make up kits to get the almost perfect 'red'.

So what makes a 'true red' lipstick? Well, it's not allowed to be too light, too dark, or be a warm red (this means that the pigmentation leans more towards the yellow end of the spectrum rather than the blue) The blue end would make the lipstick cooler as long as a cool blue is used without it leaning towards the warm yellows.

Well I hope that hasn't confused you my little Crimson Cittenz!

Whilst on my bumblings, I am delighted to say that I have finally found it...and it is from a new collection by SuperCover...yes the brand I have been using all this time for catwalk work, photo shoots, bridal and more have finally made a 'true red' lipstick!..it leans towards cool blue and you can also see the cool pink undertones!!

And there's more...it doesn't bleed around the lip line, smudge, cake or crease!!! I tested it vigorously in the shower under warm-hot water and...it didn't do anything!!

It's name says it all...

It's called SEDUCTION and it's great for pale, olive, dark, warm and cool toned skin types...wot an absolute delight...and I, CC2 am wearing it in the pictures within this blog!

I know you want to treat yourselves to this beautiful lipstick..so lucky you, I have them in stock! The cost of one is £9.95 incl VAT plus p&p,
(SuperCover prices will change in Jan 2010, p&p not included - other colours are also available).

So pucker up and email me at consultancy@crimsoncatz.com It's time to kiss and make-up, Mwah!

With Crimson Love
